FISHING IN FINNMARK

There is good deep-sea fishing along the entire coast of Finnmark - Norwegian Lapland. Angling for saltwater fish in the sea is free. For foreign citizens, please note that there is an upper limit for how many kilos of fish you are allowed to take back home over the Norwegian border, and that you are not allowed to sell your catch.

INLAND FISHING IN FINNMARK - SALMON FISHING
A fishing licence is required for inland fishing in Finnmark. Only fishing rod, hand-held fishing line and otter are allowed (no seine, net or other tied tools). Bait such as worms, flies, wobbler, spinner and spinning bait are allowed. Every person fishing is obliged to read through the fishing regulations before fishing. In order to prevent the spread of Gyrodactylus salaris in Finnmark, all fishers are obliged to disinfect all fishing tackle used outside of Norway, or which has been used in rivers or watercourses where this infectious disease has been proven or is suspected.

For fishing in salmon rivers, all persons over the age of 16 must purchase a fishing licence costing NOK 200. You must also buy a fishing permit for each individual river. Local leaseholders administer the sale of fishing permits, which are sold locally.

HUNTING IN FINNMARK
Finnmark, Norwegian Lapland offers a great deal of excellent terrain for hunting small and large game. Anyone wishing to go small game hunting must buy a hunting permit and obtain a licence. You may buy a hunting permit and licence for one municipality or the entire area run by Finnmarkseiendommen. Hunting permits are available for purchase via the Internet: www.inatur.no.

If you live outside Norway and are not registered as a hunter, you can obtain a hunting permit by contacting Jegerregisteret on tel.: +47 75 00 79 99. You will have to document that you meet the conditions for hunting in your own country.
